Suutarila Comprehensive School Upper Stage

The school started in 1955 as Mannerheimintien yhteiskoulu, a private school offering secondary education to pupils aged 11 to 18 years. In the process of the profound changing of the Finnish educational system the school became a municipal school containing the upper level of the comprehensive school and the senior secondary school. From 1986 to 2005 the school was called Suutarilan yläasteen koulu (a comprehensive school) and Suutarilan lukio (senior high). Suutarilan lukio was incorporated to Koillis-Helsingin lukio in autumn 2005.

Suutarilan yläasteen koulu, a co-educational school, has about 500 pupils aged 12 to 16. The school carries out the Finnish secondary educational programme with English, Swedish, German and French as A1/A2 languages. In our curriculum we lay special emphasis on Latin and music. The pupils, who wish to enter these classes, have to take an entrance exam.

During year 2008 our school hosts the international guests of the Education Department for the City of Helsinki.
